Over the last few months the Government have introduced a lot of different help for businesses due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
However, HMRC have stated that from 1st July 2020 they expect all businesses to re-commence paying their taxes in full and on time. This includes VAT, PAYE/CIS and Corporation Tax.
The only type of tax that can be deferred is any VAT that was due for payment between 20th March and 30th June. This VAT payment can be deferred until 31st March 2021. Anything else must be paid.
If you have built up any HMRC arrears (other than the VAT mentioned above) during the last few months, or even before that, then we can speak with HMRC and agree a payment plan for you.
We have been negotiating with HMRC for thousands of businesses for well over 10 years. We have the direct lines for many senior managers at HMRC who we know extremely well and have dealt with many times before and we will get longer payment plans than you may get. We also know HMRC’s procedures and processes so know what to say (and not say) to delay the start of any payment plan for as long as possible.
If you feel that even with a HMRC payment plan your business will struggle to survive due to the situation of the past few months then please still get in touch and we can discuss the advantages and disadvantages of other options such as raising finance or even liquidation (always a last resort but worth discussing).
